ASCO was a multimedia arts collective in the 1970s based in East L.A. It is difficult to find too much information about them; I was first introduced to the group by an exhibit at LACMA on Chicano art that was surprisingly good, though it really gave no background on the group. Pictures are not hard to find, however, and for the purposes of Katie DelTaco that is just fine. They look really, really good — especially Patssi Valdez. You can learn about their actual art on some other blog.
I normally wouldn’t use LA Weekly as a source but this is the only article about them that was informative at all. Skip the first page — it’s stupid. But look at the pictures!
